In the first quarter of 2024, the top five navigation and maps applications in Africa exhibited diverse performance trends in terms of downloads, active users, and revenue. The data, sourced from Sensor Tower, provides a comprehensive look at the market dynamics for these apps.

Google Maps saw a steady decline in weekly downloads, starting at 75.4K in early January and dropping to approximately 62.6K by the end of March. Despite this, the app maintained a robust user base, with weekly active users fluctuating between 2.8M and 3.1M throughout the quarter.

Google Earth experienced a slight decrease in weekly downloads, beginning at 33.3K and ending at 25.3K. Weekly active users showed a consistent pattern, averaging around 320K during the quarter.

GPS Satellite View: Live Maps exhibited a growth trend in weekly active users, rising from 32.3K in early January to 75.1K by the end of March. Weekly downloads remained relatively stable, fluctuating between 24.3K and 29.1K.

Muslim Prayer - Qibla Compass showed notable growth in both downloads and active users. Weekly downloads peaked at 46.8K in mid-March, while weekly active users reached a high of 84.9K during the same period. The app also generated modest weekly revenue, reaching up to $4 in the week of March 11.
